Dear Church Family,
Like most of you, Erick and I were excited for 2021 to arrive and to close out what has been a very challenging year. But in the midst of this transition we have been trying to intentionally reflect and praise God for the many wonderful things He has done over the past 12 months. For our little family, the highlight of 2020 has been seeing Trinity’s ministry partnership with Sacred Road grow rapidly. Trinity, we have been so humbled by your support, interest, questions, and generous giving to Sacred Road in 2020:
Thank you to the entire team of people who signed up to participate in our week long summer mission trip, and then were extremely gracious when it was canceled. These folks immediately asked what else they could do to support our partners, and many opted to donate their rebated trip expenses right back to Sacred Road to support various summer outreach efforts. Thanks as well to the families offered to help fund scholarships for trip participants that needed extra support.
Thank you to our kids ministry and youth ministry leaders who have been thinking of how to build partnerships with Sacred Road youth despite not being able to engage in person.
Thank you to everyone who gave up a weekend to participate in our wood chopping trip in October – that firewood has been delivered and is still keeping families all across White Swan warm this winter.
Thank you to everyone who donated books to the mobile library and school supplies this fall and winter – these materials were essential in standing up a new and safe outreach strategy to kids who are homebound during the pandemic while supporting their learning and development.
Thank you to everyone who donated supplies for Christmas Shoeboxes – you ensured that 200 children living in deep poverty received a box on Christmas morning filled with toys, hats, gloves, and socks.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to those who have prayed for this ministry and the efforts above.
Over the course of one year, our church family has been able to provide significant support to a ministry partner and impact the lives of hundreds of families despite the limitations of a pandemic. In a recent conversation with Sacred Road’s Children’s Ministry Director, they shared this encouragement with us and we wanted to pass it on to you:
“Repeatedly over 2020 I’ve been blown away by the goodness and sovereignty of God. At every turn He has met and even more commonly exceeded my expectations. In the summer we had to completely reinvent our ministry in terms of moving from large group events to smaller, more intimate settings and home delivery type ministry. This gave us a brand-new way to connect to the community and new families. In the fall we were able to do our first ever Thanksgiving Day meal giveaway and delivered over 400 hot meals to families that could not leave their homes. We also hit the road with our new library on wheels. This Christmas, we were able to deliver to over 140 households in White Swan. Additionally, we took over 2,000 shoeboxes to Reservation-based churches in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
How amazing is it that a plethora of new connections were made on top of old relationships being strengthened amid a pandemic induced shutdown! What an undeniable sign that God is the one that chooses whether our ministry is successful or not. He is the one that moves regardless of what obstacles might hinder or scare us. As such, I find myself being grateful for a mighty and sovereign God. But also, a wonderful and caring Church family. Nothing that happened this year could have been done without our church family, without you.”
Thank you for loving our first neighbors well and for being part of God’s redemptive work on reservations throughout our region. We praise God for you and the ways that He has used your generous hearts!
